The Secretary of State for Energy Security & Net Zero, Claire Coutinho, has issued an update on the Government’s efforts regarding energy efficiency and low carbon heating.
Between 2013 and 2022 around 3.7 million measures, such as insulation and heat pumps, were installed in roughly 2.6 million properties through government schemes. As a result, about half of homes in England have now reached the Government’s target of reaching EPC C by 2035, up from 14 per cent in 2010.
Between 2022 and 2025, £6.6 billion will be invested in improving the energy efficiency of homes, businesses, schools and hospitals, and by 2028 £12.6 billion will have been spent on improving existing homes. This huge cash boost will provide extra help for families, with targeted support to help low-income households on top of broader support for all.
Julian Smith said, “The Government is firmly committed to achieving its Net Zero goals by taking a pragmatic and proportionate approach, ensuring households and businesses have access to the support they need.
“This support will make a real difference to the lives of people across Skipton and Ripon, whether it’s through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, one of the most generous schemes of its kind in Europe, the Home Upgrade Grant, or any of the other schemes in place.
