On Monday 14 September Julian Smith MP met with students from Upper Wharfedale school on their visit to Westminster. The MP enjoyed a good discussion with students the year-ten-and-eleven students who were all members of the school council and were visiting Westminster to get a taste for politics and policy making. The group made use of the new Education Centre in Parliament before watching a debate in the House of Commons Chamber.
Julian always try to meet with school groups from the constituency during their visit to talk about the poitics and history of Westminster, the work of an MP and about local issues. He also carries out a programme of school visits throughout the constituency. The visits are a good opportunity for students and teachers to talk to their MP about issues, as well as for Julian to see the school at work.
