Julian has met with the Transport Minister to press the case for continued financial support for mountain rescue teams.
He joined a group of MPs who saw Stephen Hammond to follow up on their letter asking that the Government continues to provide the grant that covers the cost of VAT on mountain rescue equipment for the unpaid voluntary organisations.
Julian said:
“At the meeting I urged the Government to continue the support of organisations like The Cave Rescue Organisation and Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association in my constituency who provide invaluable support for both residents and visitors.
“I am confident the Minister appreciates the work these groups do and the time and effort they give to supporting rural communities and I hope there will be positive news on this issue soon.”
