Julian Smith MP welcomed the news that in the last academic year 200 students from 10 schools across Skipton and Ripon took part in a Parliamentary Education Centre visit to Westminster.
Parliament’s Education Service helps students and teachers to get involved with Parliament and democracy. The centre arranges tours of the Palace of Westminster and puts on dynamic workshops to connect young people with politics more generally, as well as providing teacher training events.
Julian Smith said: ‘It is always great to meet school groups, when Parliamentary business allows, and I would encourage any teachers or students to see if they can arrange a tour for their school or class. You can find out more at www.parliament.uk/educationcentre. Many schools in our area qualify for a travel subsidy because we are so far from Parliament.’
