Julian Smith MP went to Craven Gallery in Skipton Town Hall and saw an exhibition that is run by Pioneer Projects in partnership with Craven Museum. It shows work that has been created by people living with dementia and their carers, who used the museum’s paintings, sculptures and artefacts as inspiration for their art.
Ailsa Lewer and Phillipa Troutman from Pioneer Projects showed the MP round the exhibition and talked about their organisation, which is based in Bentham and for the past six years has been delivering creative, artist-led sessions for people living with dementia in Craven.
Julian Smith MP said: ‘I enjoyed seeing the wonderful art and was very impressed by the work that Pioneer Projects has been doing to help people living with dementia. It was also great to be in the Craven Museum and Gallery and I would recommend that people go and have a look themselves.’
