Julian Smith MP has commented on the news that in the last academic year 251 students from 11 schools in Skipton and Ripon took part in an education service visit to Parliament and 17 teachers participated in teacher training events.
Julian Smith said: ‘Parliament’s Education Service does a fantastic job of helping students and teachers to get involved with Parliament, politics and democracy. They arrange tours of the Palace of Westminster and put on workshops, teacher training sessions and arrange learning competitions.
‘It is always great to meet school groups, when Parliamentary business allows, and I would encourage any teachers, students or their parents to see if they can arrange a tour for their school or class. You can find out more at www.parliament.uk/educationcentre. Many schools in our area qualify for a travel subsidy because we are so far from Parliament.’
