Julian visited Evolve Ripon recently after receiving a letter from student Rory Hall, who has recently become interested in politics.
Evolve is an alternative, post-16 educational centre in Ripon, offering a range of qualifications for those who thrive most in a small, supportive environment.
Julian’s visit came at the invitation of Rory Hall, who is studying a bespoke timetable at Evolve including a core aim of a Practical Diploma in Horticulture, along with additional subjects such as Employability Skills, Science & Enterprise, English and Maths.
Evolve, based in Ripon and headed up by Bev Skaife, offers a fantastic alternative educational service, where students each have a unique study programme.
Julian’s visit included a Q&A session, with questions ranging from Eurovision and Strictly to the best aspects of representing a Yorkshire constituency, and a look at some of the Liberty Bird’s which each student had made.
Julian Smith said, “I’m really pleased to have been invited by Rory to visit Evolve and find out more about what he and his fellow students are up to.
“Evolve is a fantastic establishment at the very heart of Ripon and I know that Bev and all her staff do a brilliant job providing a safe and supportive environment for students to flourish.
“I’m grateful for all their hard work, ensuring that every child has the best possible start in life.”
