Julian has welcomed new Government funding to support community transport services and is now urging all local providers across the constituency to bid for the money.
Across the UK, there will be £25 million of new support to provide hundreds of voluntary community transport providers with new minibuses.
These providers are vital to communities around the constituency and across North Yorkshire, providing transport for those who do not have access to conventional public transport or who are unable to use it for health or mobility reasons.
Any community transport provider can bid for one vehicle to either expand or replace an existing one with smaller operators, and those in rural or isolated areas, being favoured.
Julian said:
“This is positive news for community bus services across Skipton and Ripon and I urge them to take the opportunity to bid for a share of the £25 million. Bus services like these are vital to residents in rural areas so I’m pleased this Government is supporting them.”
Further details on the bidding process and criteria for community transport operators will be made available on the Department for Transport’s website shortly.
