On Wednesday 15 July Julian Smith MP attended the ADS Parliamentary Reception to meet with his Skipton constituent, Megan Wilcock and her colleague William Maughan. Megan is based at Barnoldswick and has just completed her three year apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce Aerospace after having studied at Skipton Girls High School.
Julian also spoke with the President of Rolls-Royce Aerospace, Tony Wood, who told him about the programme that they are running which gives young people from all over the country the opportunity to train with the company.
More than 70 apprentices from some of Britain’s leading aerospace, defence, security and space companies attended the Parliamentary Reception.
The event, organised by the trade organisation ADS Group, and sponsored by UTC Aerospace Systems, highlighted the valuable contribution apprentices are making to important, high-skill manufacturing industries, and the world-leading technologies that many of them are working to develop.
