MP calls for more support for dairy farmers

Julian has written to the Treasury and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to call for them to do more to support dairy farmers.

He has asked David Gauke, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, and Vince Cable, Business Secretary, to consider ‘making accommodation for the serious financial pressures currently facing dairy farmers as they seek to settle their January tax bills’.

The MP has also written to the Grocery Code Adjudicator to ask them to take tougher action against supermarkets in their dealings with the dairy industry.

Julian said:

“These are exceptionally difficult times for dairy farmers and I will be doing all I can to ensure Government and organisations like the Grocery Code Adjudicator are working to stand up for our hugely important dairy industry.”
