Julian has presented a petition from signed by Upper Wharfedale School pupils to North Yorkshire County Council.
The petition opposes the County Council’s proposed removal of subsidy for bus services bringing students who didn’t live within the catchment area to the school.
Julian handed submitted the petition when he met with Cllr Chris Metcalfe, the Executive Member responsible for buses on the County Council, and Richard Owens, the Council’s Assistant Director for Integrated Passenger Transport, at a meeting last week.
The MP said:
“Engagement is vital when decisions like this are taken and I was pleased to be able to present the petition put together by students at Upper Wharfedale School.
“I share the concerns of students at proposals that could see bus services removed from a small rural secondary school that plays an important role in our community and hope that North Yorkshire County Council listen to these worries and change its mind.”
