Local MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, met with representatives from Arla’s Settle creamery to discuss action the company is taking to resolve odours from their plant affecting nearby homes and businesses.
The meeting followed meetings, correspondence, and dialogue with Settle and Giggleswick residents, North Yorkshire Cllr David Staveley, local organisations and parish councillors.
Julian said: “I plan further meetings with the Environment Agency and North Yorkshire Council who are leading on this issue.
“I have been updated on mitigation measures already taken, as well as others forthcoming, and suggested a further meeting in the New Year to check progress. I look forward to updates from the Environment Agency and will robustly represent the concerns of the community and the urgent need to rapidly resolve this issue".
