Local MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, has received an update on the per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination investigation at the Angus Fire site in Bentham from the Environmental Agency (EA) and North Yorkshire Council (NYC).
This update followed Julian’s meetings with representatives of the Cleaner Bentham group and Angus Fire.
Following the update, Julian expressed confidence that the relevant agencies are actively addressing the issue.
Julian said: “I am confident that the EA and NYC are fully engaged in managing this situation.
“Both agencies are working to assess the situation, protect the community, and explore effective solutions. I look forward to further updates as both agency's work continues.”
