Julian has met with the Superfast North Yorkshire team rolling out high speed broadband across the county for an update on their progress.
He raised concerns from a number of communities and businesses about whether and when they would receive better internet connections.
The MP heard that the roll-out was on schedule with the target of 90pc of North Yorkshire having speeds of at least 25Mbs by the end of next year.
In addition, he heard that phase two of the project – to extend superfast speeds to around 95pc of premises, which he has lobbied for in Parliament, is close to being agreed.
Julian said:
“The impact on residents and businesses of having high speed internet connections cannot be underestimated. It reduces the digital divide between rural communities and towns and cities which is so important for people looking to live and work in North Yorkshire.
“I urged the Superfast North Yorkshire team to continue their roll-out to as many people as possible as quickly as possible. I also asked them to continue to engage with areas where there are challenges to improving internet connections to ensure solutions are available to improve broadband for everyone who wants it.”
