Skipton and Ripon MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, has responded to news from the Government that Airedale Hospital is not part of the Hospital Programme Review meaning plans for the new hospital can move forward as scheduled.
Airdale Hospital is one of seven hospital projects which will now be prioritised because their current buildings contain reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) which is potentially dangerous.
Julian received a Dear Colleague letter from the Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP Secretary of State for Health and Social Care which outlines that Airdale Hospital is out of the scope of the review.
Commenting on the news Julian said, "I am very pleased to read confirmation that the Airedale Hospital rebuild, initiated by the previous Conservative government, will still go ahead. This is really positive news and my focus will continue to be that the rebuild is completed on schedule."
