Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP visited The Orchards Unit in Ripon on Friday, 22 November, to meet with Brent Kilmurray, CEO of the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV), and his team who provide mental health services to the local community.
The visit gave Julian the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and successes in delivering mental health support in Ripon and across the wider North Yorkshire area. This visit follows Julian’s encouragement for residents to participate in the TEWV Care Planning Policy consultation, a platform for individuals with personal or professional experience of TEWV services to share their views.
Speaking after the visit, Julian said: "The Orchards Unit, and the entire TEWV healthcare team including the community and school teams, provide invaluable care and support for people in our community facing mental health challenges. It has been great to meet with Brent and his team to learn more about their hard work and discuss how we can further enhance services in our area."
