Julian has welcomed the falling number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in the Skipton and Ripon constituency.
In the latest employment figures the number of people on JSA is down by 301 in the past year and down by 30 in the past month. In Skipton and Ripon the number of people claiming JSA now stands at 538.
Employment is up overall in Yorkshire by 152,000 since 2010.
Julian said:
“The number of people claiming JSA in Skipton and Ripon is down by a third from one year ago, which shows our long-term economic plan to reduce the number of people on benefits and helping people back into employment is working .
“We need to continue doing all we can to ensure people have the security of a regular pay packet and that businesses have the confidence to expand, grow and create jobs.”
