Skipton and Ripon MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, has welcomed the announcement from the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT) that the Department of Health and Social Care has allocated £50 million in capital funding for the redevelopment of Lynfield Mount Hospital.
Lynfield Mount Hospital is a mental health facility on Heights Lane in Bradford, West Yorkshire and Sir Julian has supported the BDCFT in its efforts to secure the funding.
According to the BCDFT, the redevelopment project will considerably enhance their facilities, ensuring that they can provide a modern, safe, and healing environment for those who rely on their services.
The improvements will also enable them to better meet the needs of their patients, offering them the care and support they deserve in a setting designed to promote recovery and well-being.
Commenting on the news Julian said, “In response to the growing prevalence of mental health conditions it is important that we increase funding, improve support and services and take steps towards ensuring mental health achieves parity of esteem with physical health.
“I have long supported the BDCFT’s bid for funding and I welcome the news that they have been awarded the significant sum of £50 million to enhance their facilities. Well done to the excellent team leading this bid – they have been determined from the start and their collective hard work has paid off and will transform many lives as a result.
“I look forward to learning more about the trust's plans and how this investment will improve patient care and outcomes.”
