Julian was delighted to hear that North Yorkshire Council’s children’s services have been judged as Outstanding in its latest Ofsted inspection.
The subsequent report further rated the service as Outstanding in every individual assessed element, making North Yorkshire Council the only council so far to have achieved such a judgement under Ofsted’s new inspection framework.
The report highlights, amongst others, the high-quality services available to children and their families; the well-established culture across the service; the comprehensive, robust and effective systems in place; as well as the skill and inspiring commitment of the staff.
In a letter to Richard Flinton, Chief Executive of North Yorkshire Council, Julian offered his wholehearted congratulations to the children’s service staff and thanked them for their hard work and diligence.

Julian Smith said, “North Yorkshire Council’s dedicated staff deliver an exceptional service for those children and families most in need.
“To not only be judged as Outstanding overall but also in every individual assessed element – the first council to do so – is testament to the commitment of staff at every level.
I hope they are rightly proud of the difference that they have made.”
