November was a busy month, Julian enjoyed meeting with different businesses, schools and constituents across both Skipton, Ripon and the surrounding areas.
Julian visited Scar House Reservoir, located north of Pateley Bridge, in Upper Nidderdale, which supplies water to Bradford. Julian was interested to learn about the history of the reservoir, which was first built in 1921 and take in the impressive views in the Nidderdale AONB. Julian was also pleased discuss with Yorkshire Water Officials the work being undertaken to improve the water quality from Scar House.
For Remembrance Sunday, Julian laid a wreath in Ripon to honour our fallen and to remember the service and sacrifices of all those who have defended our freedom. Further wreaths were laid in Skipton, Pateley Bridge and Bentham on Julian’s behalf. A Remembrance tribute was also placed in Parliament’s Constituency Garden of Remembrance.
This month Julian also met with Year 6 from Kildwick CE VC Primary School. Julian met with the class of Year 6. Julian spoke about his role as the MP for Skipton and Ripon, followed by a Q&A session. The class told Julian about their recent visit to Westminster and what books they had been reading lately. The class had prepared lots of questions to ask Julian about his work as an MP, including what he is doing locally, what he likes about being an MP and whether he has met the King. Julian said, 'It was great to meet the pupils and answer such a wide range of questions, I also enjoyed hearing about their secondary school choices for next year'.
Separately, Julian visited the local pub in Kildwick, the White Lion and met with the founders Alistair and Nick. Julian said ‘it was very good to visit this pub, with fantastic food and a great atmosphere.’
Julian continues to hold surgeries on a regular basis and has held surgeries across the constituency and via the telephone this month. To book a surgery appointment please email or call the office, including the details of the matters you wish to raise.
