Transdev bus company has introduced a new fare-saving scheme for young people in North Yorkshire. Under the new scheme, anyone under 19 can now travel on any Transdev bus in North Yorkshire for just £1 per single journey.
The discounted fare is part of a partnership between Transdev and North Yorkshire Council, offering affordable travel for under 19s across the County.
Transdev routes included in the £1 fare scheme are:
- Coastliner – serving Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering, Malton, and Tadcaster
- The Harrogate Bus Company – covering Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, and Pateley Bridge
- The Keighley Bus Company – operating in the Skipton and Grassington areas
Commenting, Skipton and Ripon MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, said: “It is great news that under-19s can now travel across North Yorkshire for just £1.
“During a visit to Parliament yesterday students from Upper Wharfedale School asked me about free bus passes for under 16s so I am sure they will be pleased with this news too.
“I hope that this new initiative brings even more young people onto our bus network and I look forward to discussing the success of the scheme with the bus company and the council over the upcoming period.”
