Julian met with the Trustees of Ripon Military Heritage Trust (RMHT) last Friday to learn more about their efforts to safeguard for future generations key sites of historical interest.
The RMHT was established to research and preserve the unique military heritage in Ripon, with a particular focus on key sites across Claro and Deverell Barracks.
At Deverell Barracks, these include the original 1939 Militiamen Camp, a very rare survival from the pre and early-war years, and a group of post-war Twynham huts, believed to be the only surviving examples in England.
The meeting was an opportunity to find out more about the Trust’s plans for the preservation of these and other sites for future generations.
