This month sadly saw the passing of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was not only our country's longest serving monarch but probably the most consequential - leading us carefully and skilfully through an era of huge change in our society and the world. During the period of national mourning Julian attended services in both the constituency and Westminster in memory of the Queen.
Whilst out and about in the constituency, Julian visited the Nidderdale Show in Pateley Bridge and paid tribute to the committee’s excellent work at rescheduling this event to ensure that it could still go ahead.
Julian visited Reed Boardall in Boroughbridge, which is one of the largest refrigeration and cold storage companies in the UK. Julian spoke with the CEO, Marcus Boardall and discussed the increasing pressures they have been facing as a business.
In Cross Hills, Julian visited the tool supply company, P J Wiseman Ltd, a family business. Julian spoke with the Director, Gemma Harling, founder Paul Wiseman, and met the team.
This month Julian also attended the launch of the Access the Dales new electric wheelchair hub. This was hosted at the Lister Arms in Malham by the founder of Access the Dales, Debbie North. This provides all-terrain mobility scooters for use by people with disabilities. Julian was pleased to be invited to the launch of this hub which allows everyone to access the Yorkshire Dales.
Whilst in Malham, Julian visited the Youth Hostel Association alongside the Chair of the YHA, Margret Hall. Julian met with the local manager and staff and had a tour of the hostel.
This month has seen concerns and worries amongst households and businesses surrounding the high cost of energy. As we head towards winter, Julian has been paying close attention to the matters and continues to represent all constituents concerns to the highest levels of Government. Including pressing the government for more clarity on support being provided for those households and businesses that have an off-grid energy supply, which is of concern for those in rural communities like ours.
Julian continues to hold surgeries on a regular basis and has held surgeries across the constituency and via the telephone this month. To book a surgery appointment please email or call the office, including the details of the matters you wish to raise.
