Julian Smith recently met heads of Craven secondary schools for a 'summit' on issues facing rural schools. At this meeting, head teachers from across Craven raised issues and questions with Julian who committed to discussing these with Ministers. As well as committing to supporting campaigners involved in getting a better deal for rural education, Julian Smith called for all Craven schools to think radically about how to work closer together and reduce costs. Mr Smith will be inviting school governors to a similar meeting in the New Year.
Julian Smith MP said: 'Whilst I will do all I can to ensure we get the best funding deal we can, the fact is that the more our excellent Craven schools can work together to share costs and overheads the better. We need to grasp this nettle now and push forward with radical partnerships and associations to guarantee a future for our first class education institutions for generations to come.'
