Julian Smith MP has welcomed the announcement by the Secretary of State for Transport, the Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, that the High Speed 2 line between Fradley in the West Midlands to Crewe would be opening six years earlier than originally planned, bringing more capacity and faster services.
In Leeds it has been announced in revised proposals that HS2 will approach Leeds station from the South meaning that a common concourse between services will be created and will allow for easy access to the city centre and motorway network.
Julian Smith MP said: "These developments are hugely exciting for everyone living and working in Yorkshire and are part of the Government’s commitment to delivering the infrastructure needed for a Northern Powerhouse."
