The Tour de Yorkshire 2016 is set to be another brilliant event which showcases our beautiful region to the rest of the world. It is expected to be watched by over 1.5 million spectators roadside with a global audience of over 6 million viewers.
Julian Smith MP said: 'The Tour de Yorkshire is an incredible opportunity for Yorkshire. Not only does the race bring tourists and visitors to the region, but it is making strong progress in bringing parity to the sport of cycling. This year’s Tour will be the most lucrative on the women’s calendar, offering a first prize for the women’s one-day event that will exceed the men’s winnings, and following the same course as the men’s event with the same media coverage.
'I look forward to joining many of you in Settle to watch the finish of the first stage in the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.'
