In the final countdown to the Tour de France this weekend, Julian Smith, Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon, will be visiting locations along the route to see the final preparations.
Julian has been closely involved in the preparations for the event; from meeting with the organisers during the bidding process in London to leading the calls for the Government to provide financial support to the event and chairing the All Party Parliamentary Group on the event at Westminster.
He has also visited communities along the route, which passes through the constituency over the past 18 months to hear about their preparations.
On Friday, the MP is planning to visit Kilnsey, Grassington, Skipton, Ripon, North Stainley and Masham, to show his support for their preparation in the final hours.
Julian said:
“After months of planning, the Tour de France is now upon us and the hard work of communities across my constituency, and around North Yorkshire, will be showcased to the billions of people around the world who follow the event.
“On Friday, I will be lending my support to those putting the final touches to event before the arrival of the world’s biggest free sporting event in our area.
This is one of the most important weekends ever for Yorkshire and I will be following the Grand Depart on both days it is in the Skipton and Ripon constituency.
