Julianhas been to Skipton Job Centre to hear about the efforts they are making to get more people into work.
He met with Job Centre Regional Manager Stuart Griffiths, and some of the team in Skipton, during the visit on Friday (4 April).
The MP heard about large reductions in the numbers on Jobseekers Allowance at the Job Centre – down from 532 in April 2013 to 387 now, a 27 per cent reduction. 76 claimants of Jobseekers Allowance are under 24, one of the lowest levels in the country. 83 people are on the Work Programme.

“The role of Job Centres in ensuring that more people who are looking for work are matched with the jobs that are available is hugely important and I wanted to hear how those efforts are going and find out what further support they need.
“I was encouraged to hear about the positive numbers of those moving from being unemployed to having jobs and passed on my thanks to the team in the Skipton Job Centre for all their efforts in helping reduce the numbers out of work in Craven.”
