Julian Smith, Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon, has welcomed measures to support the pub and brewing industry in the Budget.
The MP had been campaigning for further help for brewers and pubs and this was backed by the Chancellor with a further penny a pint cut in beer duty.
Duty on spirits and cider was also frozen while the duty escalator for wine was abolished.
Julian said:
“Pubs and the brewing industry are hugely important in my constituency which is why I am pleased the Chancellor has backed the efforts to support them.
“This is the second year in a row that a penny has been taken off the price of a pint and the other measures announced show the Government’s commitment to supporting pubs and brewers.
“Pubs are at the heart of our communities and these measures will help support them, protecting jobs and the role they play where we live and work.”
