Julian is encouraging people to get behind small businesses and shops for this weekend’s inaugural Small Business Saturday.
The national campaign to encourage everyone to shop local and support small businesses in their community culminates this Saturday (7 December) with a day of events across the country.
As the Prime Minister’s Small Business Ambassador for Yorkshire, Julian will be highlighting the work they do and the opportunities for economic growth they create.
He has written an open letter to the constituency’s small businesses thanking them for their work and asking them to complete a short survey on their experiences.
In this letter, Julian says:
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy and I want to do all I can to support them and those budding entrepreneurs who want to start or grow a company.
The work that these firms do will be showcased on Small Business Saturday, a national campaign that encourages people to shop local and support small businesses in their communities. It takes place on Saturday 7 December and will be a great opportunity to see the fantastic work of our small businesses and create new opportunities for growth.
I know that supporting our small businesses is about more than just one day a year. It’s about tax policy and foot fall, issues that will impact on you and your business all year round. In my role as the Prime Minister’s Small Business Ambassador for Yorkshire, I will be doing all I can to get the best deal for you, helping you thrive and create the jobs and deliver the growth that we need here in North Yorkshire. I enclose some of the work the Government has done so far.
Our small and local businesses are part of what makes our area great, adding vibrancy and colour to the economy. I’m grateful for all you do for our area, and wish you every success for Small Business Saturday and the years to come.”
