Julian Smith MP met with constituents on 27 June from the village of Grantley to discuss the issues that they had raised with him about broadband in and around the village.
In addition to their frustration about not being included in the current roll-out plans for Superfast Broadband, they wanted to draw Julian’s attention to the poor quality infrastructure of telephone lines in the local area which has been severely affecting broadband speeds.
In response to this meeting, Julian has raised the issues with the Chief Executive of BT to request a meeting for Grantley residents with the Chief Executive of BT in order for them to discuss how BT Open Reach can address the short-term engineering issues.
Julian has also been in contact with LN Communications to find out what progress is being made towards delivering a broadband offer to the residents of Grantley.
Julian said: "It was a pleasure to meet with residents last week and to take part in such a constructive meeting. The actions that the community are taking to ensure they push for the best broadband available are commendable and I will continue to make the case for rural broadband both in Grantley and across Skipton and Ripon."
