The Department for Education has launched a new campaign to encourage members of the public to report child abuse and neglect. We want to make sure children, who are suffering or at risk of abuse or neglect, get identified early and get help quickly to prevent their needs from escalating.
In 2014/15, there were 632,400 referrals into children’s social care, with 9.7% of these coming from individuals which include the public. Together, we can improve this figure and ensure that the most vulnerable young people in our area get the help they need.
You can contact North Yorkshire County Council’s child protection services on 01609 534527 if you are worried about a child or young person under the age of 19. In an emergency, always ring 999.
