Julian Smith MP visited Ingleton Pottery on Friday, together with Andy Swindell, a local contract director from BT, to see how Dick and Dan Unsworth have used fibre broadband to help improve the longest established working Pottery in the Yorkshire Dales. This family run business started off in 1971 in Ingleton and makes hand-fired, hand-thrown stoneware. The Unsworths signed up to superfast broadband after it arrived in Ingleton and are now using it to promote their business and increase their fan base, after videos of Dan’s pottery-making drew thousands of views on YouTube and attracted more than 100,000 subscribers.
Julian Smith MP said: ‘Dick and Dan Unsworth have a fantastic business and it’s great to see what a difference fibre broadband has made to the work they’re doing. They’ve been able to make full use of their superfast broadband to promote Ingleton Pottery and this is a perfect example of why it is so important that as many people as possible have this same access to superfast broadband.
‘I will continue all the work I’m doing to make sure this happens, so that we can see further inspiring success stories like the one we have here at Ingleton Pottery.’
