Julian Smith MP visited Masham Community Offices last month to understand more about the Masham Liftshare scheme, how it works and its benefits.
The scheme has been set up in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council to improve mobility for people of all ages in the area. It offers an alternative form of transport for trips through a free journey matching website.
Sharon Cooney, a Liftshare Programme Officer, showed Julian how the website worked to connect passengers with drivers, and they discussed the contribution it was already making to the locality.
Julian Smith said: ‘I was pleased to able to visit the Masham Community Offices and understand more about what Masham Liftshare is trying to achieve. It is a brilliant scheme that is fostering a better sense of community, and tackling problems associated with the rurality of our area.’
