Julian Smith MP has encouraged constituents who are at risk of flooding to ensure they are ready for the challenges the winter weather may bring.
In England there are 5.2 million homes at risk of flooding, but up to half of people don’t know they are at risk or what to do in a flood - putting their property and their family’s safety at risk. The constituency is an area at high risk for flooding, and has experienced its effects as recently as December 2015.
Taking steps to prepare for flooding and knowing what to do in a flood can significantly reduce the damages to your home and possessions and, more importantly, it can keep you and your family safe.

Julian Smith MP said: ‘I was very pleased to see the opening of the Skipton Flood Alleviation Scheme in October, which will provide additional flood protection for business and homes in Skipton and the surrounding area. However, we can never prevent all flooding, so I am also encouraging constituents to make sure they are aware of how to protect themselves and their homes should the worst happen.’
