On Wednesday, I asked the Prime Minister how the UK will ensure the continued success of the vaccine supply chain when future strains emerge.
Whilst new variants may be a cause for concern, a partnership with vaccine manufacturer CureVac was recently announced to rapidly develop new vaccines in response to new Covid-19 variants if needed. Thank you to everyone, to NHS staff, key workers, volunteers and to all of you who are staying home to keep your loved ones safe. Progress is being made.
So far over 13 million people have received a coronavirus vaccine across the United Kingdom. On Sunday more than 300 vulnerable adults were vaccinated in their homes, in a mass rollout of the Covid vaccine across the Yorkshire Dales and over 93% of individuals in care homes have been vaccinated.
The UK is on track to offer 15 million people across the UK their first vaccine dose by 15 February.
