Julian visited Lock 31, Eshton Road, which makes up part of the Leeds and Liverpool canal network.
The Lock is undergoing emergency works to rebuild and repair the structure which was in disarray. This work has been going on for some time, but unfortunately for this last stretch of repair works, the canal access for boats had to be closed.
Julian met with Graham Ramsden, the senior project manager, as well as other engineers at the site aiming to complete the work before the Easter rush. Julian looks forward to hearing about the completion of these repairs and the reopening of the lock, so boaters can return to this stretch of the waterway.
