This week the government has announced a new scheme to cut energy prices for non-domestic energy customers such as businesses, charities and public sector organisations, to protect them from rising energy costs.
The government will provide a discount on wholesale gas and electricity prices for all non-domestic customers, and the support will be equivalent to the Energy Price Guarantee put in place for households.
Julian said, “It is very good to see this much needed intervention by Jacob Rees-Mogg, many across North Yorkshire will welcome this announcement which will cut energy costs for businesses, charities and public sector organisations.”
Further to this, if you are not connected to either the gas or electricity grid, equivalent support will also be provided by the government for non-domestic consumers who use heating oil or alternative fuels instead of gas.
Julian welcomed the energy price cap for small businesses on the floor of the House and was pleased that businesses in the constituency, such as Angus Fire in Bentham, were grateful for this government intervention. However, Julian pressed the government on giving more clarity on the support that will be offered to off grid customers.
Julian will continue to stay in close touch with businesses across the constituency to ensure that government support is reaching those who need it.
