Julian has welcomed new figures showing the Government’s Start-Up Loans Scheme has helped 81 people across the constituency set up their own businesses.
The amount of money lent to these start-up businesses totals £454,677 – one of the highest figures for a constituency in the country, indicating the high quality proposals being put forward for loans by individuals beginning their new ventures across Skipton and Ripon.
The Start-Up Loans Scheme provides loans and mentoring support to those who want to start their own companies. Across Yorkshire, 2,117 loans have been awarded worth £10.8m.
Julian said:
“These numbers show that Start-Up Loans are helping us create and back the small businesses which bring jobs into our communities and support our economy to grow. The 81 loans worth almost £455,000 are helping these companies in Skipton and Ripon being their journey and secure their future.
“New businesses are the lifeblood of a healthy local economy, helping create growth and jobs, which is why a future Conservative government would invest in this scheme to triple the numbers who receive Start-Up Loans nationwide to 75,000 by 2020.”
