On Friday, Julian opened the new Barclays Local site in The Swadford Centre, Skipton.
Like many residents and businesses, Julian was deeply disappointed by the decision to close Barclays’ Skipton branch and met with officials to convey the strength of feeling of the local community.
Subsequent discussions highlighted the need for residents and businesses to continue to access suitable banking services, and Julian was therefore pleased when plans for the new site were announced.
The new site will service digital and complex banking needs five days a week, offering face-to-face financial support and education for customers. The Post Office will handle all cash-based services.
Julian Smith said, “I know how disappointed residents and businesses were by the closure of the popular Skipton branch, and how important continued access to a face-to-face service is to the community.
“That’s why I’m pleased that Barclays have taken this on board and worked hard to ensure that there will still be a local, in person service here in Skipton.
“It was great to open the site last week and I look forward to working further with Barclays to ensure the needs of the community continue to be met.”
