Government investment in grassroots sport facilities in Skipton and Ripon has topped £286,000 since 2021.
As part of the Get Active strategy to get over 3.5 million more people active by 2030, including 1 million young people, the Government is working with local communities to improve access to high quality grassroots sport facilities.
Between 2021 and 2025, the Government will have invested over £400 million into a wide range of facilities, delivered through programmes including the Multi-Sport Grassroots facilities Programme and the Park Tennis Court Renovation Programme.
As of January 2024, the £286,320 allocated across Skipton and Ripon has gone to projects at Sandylands Grass Pitches, Cowling Sports Club, Burton in Lonsdale Sports and Recreation Field, Burton Leonard Sports Field, Forest Moor School, Ramper Park, Ingleton Primary School and Ripon Spa Park.
Julian Smith said, “Getting people active, particularly children, is one of the biggest things we can do to promote a happier, healthier and more prosperous life.
“This funding has gone to grassroots projects that will have a real impact on my constituent’s lives. It’s a great investment and I hope to see further successful applications over the next year.”
