Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP marked Small Business Saturday this week with a visit to JD Mounsey Ltd, an electrical company in Settle’s Sowarth Light Industrial Estate. The annual event celebrates the contributions of small businesses to local communities and the national economy.
Julian was joined on his visit by Settle & Penyghent Councillor, Cllr David Staveley.
JD Mounsey Ltd, led by owner Jonathan Mounsey, plays a key role in the Settle business community. As Chair of the local Chamber of Trade, Jonathan advocates for the success and growth of small businesses across the area.
During his visit, Julian met with Jonathan and Cllr Staveley to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing small businesses in the area.
Speaking after the visit, Julian said: “It is great to see the dedication and innovation of businesses like JD Mounsey Ltd. They are the backbone of our local economy and an example of the extraordinary value small businesses bring to communities like Settle. Small Business Saturday is a fantastic reminder of why we should support local businesses - not just today, but throughout the year.”
As Small Business Saturday continues across the UK, Julian is calling on residents to support small enterprises across the constituency that contribute so much to their communities and livelihoods.
