Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE, MP for Skipton and Ripon, has welcomed the government's announcement of an additional £642,891 in funding for North Yorkshire's stop smoking services for the 2025-2026 period. This investment is part of a nationwide £70 million initiative aimed at supporting local authority-led services to help smokers quit.
The funding allocations have been determined based on the proportion of smokers in each local authority, using average smoking prevalence data from 2021 to 2023.
Julian commented: "I welcome this investment in North Yorkshire's stop smoking services. Smoking remains a leading cause of preventable illness and death, and this funding will provide vital support to those looking to quit. I encourage all smokers in our community to take advantage of the resources available to help them lead healthier lives."
