Julian Smith MP earlier this month visited Brougham Street Nursery School, Skipton. Mr Smith was given a tour of the school by the Headteacher, Michael Pettevel, and Parent Governor, Heather Mason, and met children from across all age groups.
Brougham Street Nursery School is one of two Maintained Nursery Schools in Skipton, and the staff explained in what ways this impacts their work. In particular, the school discussed their efforts to work with families who need additional support, and their experience in working with children with a range of needs, including profound and multiple needs.
Mr Smith’s visit also provided the opportunity to discuss Early Years Funding, which is due to be reviewed at the next spending review.
Julian Smith said, ‘It was a pleasure to visit Brougham Street Nursery and see the staff’s excellent work towards giving the children the best start in life. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to chat to some of the children.’
