
On Thursday, 13 February, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE MP visited Outwood Primary Academy Greystone in Ripon to engage with the students and discuss Julian’s role in Parliament.
The visit was part of Julian’s ongoing effort to educate young people about the importance of democracy and civic engagement.
During his visit, Julian met with the School Parliament, a group of students who represent their peers’ views and interests. The discussion covered a range of topics, including the role of an MP and recommendations the students had made to their teachers to improve the school.
During the visit Julian was joined by Samantha McCarthy, Head of School at Outwood Primary Academy Greystone.
Julian shared his thoughts on the visit, saying, "It is always great to see young people so engaged and interested in politics and democracy. Meeting with the School Parliament at Outwood Primary Academy Greystone was a fantastic experience, and I am impressed by the students' enthusiasm for improving their school."
