Skipton and Ripon MP, Rt Hon Sir Julian Smith KCB CBE visited Sandylands Sports Centre on Friday, 10 January, to look at the progress of the recent £1.26 million investment aimed at enhancing the facility's offerings to the community.
During the visit, Julian was joined by Roger Beck, Chairman and Lead Trustee for Fundraising on the voluntary Sandylands Sports Centre Management Committee. The tour included the various facilities, such as the main sports hall, all-weather pitch and squash courts.
Julian also viewed the site of an extension which will comprise of a dedicated Gymnasium and a café with disability access. Part of the funding for the extension, £89,950, came from North Yorkshire Council’s allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund as a capital contribution.
Expressing his thoughts on the developments, Julian stated, "The improvements at Sandylands Sports Centre are truly impressive. The extension will not only improve the quality of sports facilities available, but also significantly contribute to the well-being of the wider community."
